Andrea Svendsen, M.A.Ed., M.Ed.


Andrea Svendsen joined Wanzenberg & Associates in 2015 as Associate Consultant and Executive Functioning Skills Coach .  She comes to Wanzenberg & Associates with 13 years of educational experience within a wide variety of leadership roles.

Ms. Svendsen taught a cross-curriculum special education teacher, led a self-contained ED program team, was Director of an Alternative School, and — most recently—  department chair for special education within a large Chicagoland high school district.

During her tenure in public education, Ms. Svendsen sat on and chaired various teams and committees including:  RTI (Response to Intervention), SIT (School Improvement Team), PPS (Pupil Problem Solving) and was a valued resource to various administrators regarding special education law and best practice. 

Ms. Svendsen maintains active certification as a special education teacher and administrator in the state of Illinois.

Ms. Svendsen studies International Business and received a B.S. from Drake University.  She holds an M.A.Ed. in Special Education and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Benedictine University. 

Ms.  Svendsen describes her style of advocacy as collaborative, student centered and compassionate.  She attributes this to the various roles she has participated in at IEP meetings as teacher, administrator, advocate and parent.
